General Information

Description

To provide support for individual learning needs and learning strategies, as well as supporting the core subject   

  • supplement instruction and provide support for students’ specific areas of need
  • provide strategies for study skills and organization skills 
  • monitor student progress and provide support for core subject classes
  • assist students learn, understand, and reinforce concepts and /or assignments presented in the general education and IEP benchmark goals  
  • provide opportunity to develop and strengthen good study habits and learning strategies through various instructional methods and strategies
  • collaborate with mainstreamed teachers on an on-going basis to develop strategies and design lessons to best meet academic requirements of the mainstreamed classroom 
  • Curriculum Support class is for students taking regular education classes. Emphasis is placed on core classes. 

Students’ grades are based on (Please see Method of Assessment below)

1) Productivity - includes daily entry digital notebook, work completion (google classroom),  and on-task behaviors.

2) Mini-lessons - strategies instruction, assignments, ice breakers/games

3) Attendance  - daily attendance (virtual/physical)

 4) Academic Progress- Progress checks

Grading Scale

Grades are on a weighted scale based on productivity, academic progress, mini-lessons, and attendance.

A 90-100% ( A-90%-93%, A 94%-96%, A+ 97%-100% )

B 80-89% ( B-80%-83%, 84%-86%, B+ 87%-89% )

C 70-79% (C- 70%-73%, C 74%-76%, C+77-79% )

D 60-69% (D-60%-63%, D 64%-66%, D+67%-69%)

F 0-59%

COURSE INCENTIVES

 

Perfect attendance who log in and participate in this class earn points and rewards. Incentives include positive note/phone call home, no homework pass, brain break choice, digital raffle, etc.

 

CONSEQUENCES FOR BEHAVIOR

 

  • Warning
  • Email the student regarding concerns. Review Zoom expectations
  • Invite a parent to sit with the student during class (observation only)
  • Zoom meeting with a parent, student, and teacher
  • Zoom meeting with a parent, student, teacher and school administrator
  • Referral to administrator

 

WHAT PARENTS CAN DO TO HELP

  • Log in daily in Aeries and  monitor class attendance and grades
  • Build a schedule and make sure that it is followed.
  • Set-up a designated quiet space with easy access to materials and supplies
  • Plenty of notepapers, pens, and other office basics.
  • Get to know the Online Learning Platform. District website has several videos on topics such as Zoom basics, google classroom and digital notebook
  • Stay in communication with your child’s teachers. Teachers can be contacted by phone and email.
